Hello Everyone,
"Batman: The Dark Knight" -- a lot of pressure is being put on this title to save the movie industry. With DVD sales down, BluRay not doing as well as anticipated, and even theater attendance waning, the movie industry has turned on the Bat Signal and is putting all their faith in Batman's arrival to save them. Of course, once they get past this hurdle, the next dark cloud looming over the movie industry is the threatened Screen Actors Guild strike. If all else fails, they could always turn to the government for a bailout...
The most exciting thing about this week's BluRay releases (other than Batman: The Dark Knight coming out) is they bring us one week closer to next week's new releases... Criterion Tuesday! Barring any more delays, we should be getting the first wave (Bottle Rocket, Chungking Express, Last Emperor, Man Who Fell to Earth and The Third Man) on Tuesday. Criterion promises the mastering will be amazing, "If our BluRay discs are going to come out, they'd better look right." (Lee Kline, Criterion's Technical Director)
