Last week I start working
my way through the "50
Essential Art House Films" box set (remember? one per week
in alphabetical order with two weeks off) by watching "Alexander
Nevsky". This week's film is Andrzej Wajda's "Ashes
and Diamonds" (1958). If you hurry, you can get to
Renter and grab our copy so you can (virtually) watch along
with me. I'm writing one paragraph reviews as I go (you should,
too, I'll post them on our web site) -- check out my write-ups
here.
Also, we've added another
half dozen or so operas to our ever expanding opera section (including
a PAL copy of Bizet's Carmen). Check out the full selection and
descriptions here.
Lastly, The
Flat Top Grill is set to open (north of Green on 6th, where
Kinko's used to be) next week sometime. If I understand the concept
correctly, you gather all the stuff you want to cook (rice, noodles,
vegitables, meat, etc), dump it in a wok, cook it and then sit
down and eat it. Isn't that what we all pretty much do at home anyway?
Hmmm, I think I'll stick with Murphy's.
