Films that mention Urbana-Champaign in one form or another:
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) -- "Good afternoon, gentlemen. I am a HAL 9000 computer. I became operational at the H.A.L. plant in Urbana, Illinois on the 12th of January 1992."
Beginning of the End (1957) -- giant mutant grasshoppers from Champaign County head north to destroy Chicago (passing lots of mountains on the way).
In Whose Honor? (1997) -- The Cleveland Indians. Washington Redskins. Atlanta Braves. What's wrong with American Indian sports mascots? This moving, award-winning film is the first of its kind to address that subject. Filmed by University of Illinois professor Jay Rosenstein.
Leatherheads (2008) -- The main character, Lexie Littleton (Renee Zellweger) is from Urbana.
Risky Business (1983) -- "Looks like University of Illinois!"
Some Like it Hot (1959) -- ""All the way to Urbana for a one night stand?"
Whatever! It's a Wonderful Sorority Life (1999) -- an ironic look at sorority life filmed on the University of Illinois campus.
With Honors (1994) -- the final graduation scenes were filmed on the University of Illinois quad.

Midsomer Murders: Set 1, Disc 4 ("Beyond the Grave")

Honorable mention: Pat just sent me this bit of trivia: "In the background of a couple shots of 'So I Married An Axe Murderer', you can see Champaign on a giant map of Illinois in front of which the main characters sit... but that's pretty lame. I just watched the movie recently (not as good as I remember it being!) and went 'hey!' when Nancy Travis's head was next to a giant 'Champaign.'"

Dan Schrieber wrote an article for the local web-based zine, Smile Politely, about films that involve Chicago. (link)
Pat Brown also wrote an article for the local web-based zine, Smile Politely, but his was about films that involve Urbana Champaign. (link)
