If you’ve
ever dreamed of making a movie, now you have no excuse... AND
you can help a worthy cause in the process!
The
Champaign-Urbana 25by25by5 Short Film Contest
to benefit the Leukemia
& Lymphoma Society gives 25 teams of budding film-makers
the opportunity to complete a 5-minute movie in 25 hours.
Up to 25 teams
or individuals will each choose one 25-hour period beginning Wednesday,
April 19, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. and ending at 10:00 p.m. Sunday, April
30, 2006.
In order to
ensure the 25-hour time limit is observed, participants may not
begin shooting their masterpieces until they have picked up project
files. The files will include lists of items, 5 of which must
appear in the finished product and one of which must appear within
the first 25 seconds of the movie.
For more information
and to sign up, contact LK Hansen at 25by25by5@insightbb.com.
The registration fee is $25.
A gala screening
event will be held on May 3, 2006 at the University
YMCA’s Latzer Hall. Judges will choose winners in each
of 4 categories, and the screening audience will vote for an Audience
Choice best overall film. Prizes will be awarded to winners.
Screening
admission is $5 in advance, $7 at the door (each team will
receive one complementary screening pass). All proceeds from
this contest will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
(LLS).
The mission
of the LLS is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease
and myeloma, and improve the quality of life for patients and
their families. More information about the LLS and TNT -- and
opportunities to donate -- can be found here.
